Project Description
9kWp Hybrid Solar System with 11kW Inverter – Batang Ai Remote Base
Deep within the rainforest of Sarawak, the Forestry Department at Batang Ai needed a reliable energy solution. Traditional diesel generators were expensive and noisy, and SEB/SESCO grid access was unfeasible due to cost, terrain, and environmental impact.
Why Grid Power Wasn’t Viable
- High Cost: Long-distance cabling through rainforest terrain is extremely costly.
- Unstable Supply: Even urban zones face outages; remote repairs are worse.
- Slow Approvals: Bureaucratic delays and site feasibility issues.
- Environmental Risk: Grid expansion could harm protected ecosystems.
The Sunpal Solution
Sunpal engineered a fully off-grid, hybrid solar system to provide clean, reliable, and maintenance-free power.
- 21 × 430W Bifacial Solar Panels (9.03kWp): High-efficiency dual-sided panels for maximum output.
- 2 × 5500W Hybrid Inverters (11kW total): Smart load and battery management.
- 24 × 120Ah Deep Cycle GEL Batteries: Maintenance-free storage for overnight power.
- Gaya ATS (Auto Transfer Switch): Seamless switching between solar, battery, or generator.
- Fully Off-grid: No grid dependency, zero utility bills.
Why This Matters
- Enables 24/7 remote forest monitoring
- Cuts carbon emissions by replacing diesel
- Supports mission-critical field equipment
- Preserves biodiversity with clean energy
